My cars tend to be pretty delicate around the center because I make the chassis low enough for a standing minifig outside the car to not look dwarfed by it (the blue car in the back only has one plate underneath the seating jumpers, and the entire back end is only held on by the part of a 2x4 tile that makes up part of the back seat). However, if you're making a sporty truck, a single extra plate isn't going to be hard to fit in since you'll have so much extra space on the underside because of the raised wheels.
