>>6627817Barbie used to make dolls with either saran or Kanekalon hair, but the company that makes Kanekalon stopped producing doll hair fiber in 2016 so now it's all (or mostly--I don't think they've started using nylon at all?) saran. They usually used Kanekalon on play dolls with a hair theme/focus (Rapunzel, hair stylin', etc) and on the higher end dolls.
Saran is the most common type of fiber used to make doll hairs. It's not necessarily bad, but there are varying levels of quality.
The doll on the left used Kanekalon, and the re-release on the right is saran. As you can see the Kanekalon has a much more matte, smooth/soft appearance.
