>>9653524I think it's a "fair point" that Japanese consumers are willing to pay more for physical media compared to other parts of the world (especially America). Japanese prices for Blu-rays, DVDs, Video Games, CDs, have always been higher compared to other countries. Their psychical media market is also a lot heather compared to ours (likes you said).. it doesn’t change the fact people outside of Japan still want good transfers for these films. If they don't sell them in our market, customers will just be forced to pirate the media anyway. The current Blu-ray releases for these films are very subpar transfers and sort of a waste of money to buy at this point, IMO. I own a good chunk of Godzilla films on DVD and refuse to buy the Blu-rays (anymore) because of their horrible transfers. Why should I rebuy them when I could just watch the DVD’s that are around the same quality? There needs to be some kind of middle ground in this situation, because 50 to 70 dollars Blu-ray releases for films that are around 20 – 70 years old isn’t “normal”. Japanese fans may be willing to shell out that kind of money for releases, but Japan’s secondary market for reselling items is a lot healthier than ours too. What’s even more baffling is a lot of these films are up for free on streaming services
