Only reason I said that the Deacon is different is because way back they specifically said that the final idea behind the Deacon was that it was unique case of a Xeno born from an Engineer, and how it wasn't actually a prototype Xeno despite what a lot of people originally thought.
It would definitely explain why the Deacon had such a different morphology and design it was more of special case. These new xenos from Covenant look more like those early pics of the "Neomorph" that were leaked way back.
