Wait. The upgrade kit actually give Primal a Truk mode? If the end result is the same mess as the original toy, I don't see the point to add all this kibble. Knocking off the pin linking Action Master Primal and the spaceship backpack seem like the cheapest option and the most fun one to "upgrade" the figure.
