If you went with either of them, here's a breakdown of where you can split them for your purposes. They can be broken down further than this but this seems like what you'd want. (apologies for the crappy diagram, yellow lines means "disassemble here").
The waistband and skirting is a separate piece from the crotch and thighs, but you will want at least some waistband piece to cover the crotch area. You can separate the legs at the knee, where the boot starts. The base of the neck and the point where the shoulder meets the plated chest are also points of separation, as is the forearm armor transition (so he can have the armored hands and gauntlets).
The pauldrons and the neck-guard-piece are both removable, if you find they cover too much of Hagnon's glowy bones.
