The plastic Kotobukiya uses isn't quite as nice as Bandai's, and joints may be tight, so be careful, and gentle file down joints if you think they're a bit too tight.
Don't spray anything on the spruce. You'll be left with terrible looking nub marks from cutting the painted parts. What you should do is cut the pieces off the runner, file the nubs down so they're smooth, give the parts a quick wash, then start painting them. You'll get the best, cleanest results this way.
Haven't the slightest idea on the F22 though.
