The customization is also nice. I like old paintball stuff like automags and cockers where every piece is modular and you get to build your entire rig from nothing but the modern one piece markers with internal regulars kind of do nothing for me. Pic is my automag built piece by piece from all kinds of random sources. Hopper design has gotten really boring since the rotor as well.
Also, ironically, the most toy-adjacent option of the three happens to mechanically resemble actual firearms more than the others and that's fun. You've got bullet-shaped objects that feed from a magazine and chamber in with an indexing bolt, there isn't really anything like that with the others unless you go into the gimmicky shell casing stuff. With nerf stuff, it's the core functionality rather than an aesthetic gimmick that gets in the way.
