My Grail isn't necessarily just one item and while it would be expensive as fuck, I can technically get it all back together if I really committed. What makes it a "Grail" is that it's the exact figures that I owned that makes it truly troublesome to attempt.
I got into serious figure collecting starting around 2012-ish and one of my favourite to collect were the Figuarts Dragon Ball stuff. I remember eagerly awaiting each new release and actively discussing it with other people on forums. Even managed to snag a few of the SDCC releases like Gohan and Piccolo when BBTS used to be able to get them because the line was still in its infancy at the time. I can honestly say I was a lot happier back then too compared to now.
There came a point though that money was getting super tight and the inevitable had to happen. Pic related I managed to sell for $150 at the time and that was able to get us by for a bit. What made him special though was the circumstance in which I was able to acquire him. He was popular as fuck and sold out before I was able to get him. I emailed the site that I used to buy from and asked if they possibly had any left they forgot to take stock for. They got back to me that they would try and see for me but also understood that since he was a popular item, there was no guarantee they had any left. A day or so later the rep got back to me and was happy to explain that they were able to find one for me and even added it right into my account as a pre-order without me having to do the leg work on that part like some other sites try to make you do. It's that kind of generosity that sticks with you, y'know?
So... Yeah. It's stupid sentimental shit but I'd like to own all those exact figures I sold off years ago and the memories associated with them. Again, I could buy those figures on the aftermarket with enough time and dosh. Physically there would be no differences to what I used to own but they wouldn't be *the* figures I used to own.
