Also in a lot of examples you'll find stuff underneath that's more advanced than their NATO counterparts of the time. Like all Soviet tanks starting from the T-55 having separate integrated night sights for both the commander and gunner, while on many NATO tanks you had to fuck around removing the day sight and installing and zeroing a night one.
