This is the same kind of situation we saw with Ignatius. From the promo pics he looked bland and white, in hand he was one of the most eye catching and visually interesting characters. But the materials and paints used didn't photograph well at all. He went from one of the most passed over figures in the first KS to being one of the best sellers in the All-Star wave.
Long story short. It is purple, it just don't like flash photography.
