Anyways, it depends on the type of defect. Some minors are easily fixed. Others a little more serious can happen, it's not good at all, but it's a factor that happened even with simple plastic damashi. I had figures with and scratches and weak joints just taken out of the box.
you can have bad luck with any model. MB generally have a high quality. A QC are problems you may or may not have. Metal joints over long life are the only real issue, but you'll accept that if you want metal.
Also, some fake are really not that bad, but by now Bandai has nuclearized many of them and what they do is different lines with invented subjects.
