It's shit like this that has made black/asian/etc writers bitch, because publishers want them to write about black/etc characters, instead of white ones.
Same with comic books and artists, they're being limited and pigeonholed in what work they can produce
Back in the day, companies like Marvel just let whomever do work on anything as long as they did good work.
And they usually inserted ethnic characters into their books, and they became popular, not due to pandering or marketing it as politically correct, but by just making a great character.
