>>10724073While it is accepted by most that the era of Classic Space ended with the appearance of the now infamous Blacktron faction, and the subsequent delineation between Futuron and Blacktron as the follow-up to the more homogenous original explorers of Classic Space little is known about the short transitional period that changed and morphed different branches of that original faction into the two that would later dominate the galactic space.
The images presented here give us a rare glimpse of the offshoot faction that would eventually become Blacktron 1.
Note the repurposed Supply Station that has been modified to serve more advanced signal gathering purposes (a defining characteristic of Blacktron) but also the updated helmets the astronauts are using. Another interesting change is the new color scheme reflecting a fundamental change in identity for those part of this group.
While the Blacktron logo has not yet appeared anywhere, sufficient changes to the basic CS design and aesthetics suggest this to be a rare proto-Blacktron stage, one of which to date very little information (especially visual) has been found.
