I've been brush painting models on and off for a while now but I feel like there's only so much I can do without an airbrush, especially as I want to move from 1/72 and 1/76 scale to 1/35.
I've done the obvious thing and gone looking around forums and youtube videos, but a lot of the stuff is quite old so I thought I'd ask here too. What exactly do I need to begin air brushing and are there any brands you'd recommend? When it comes to paints I'm planning on buying one of Vallejos sets like pic related, so what I'm more interested in is specific air brushes, beginner kits, compressors, cleaning products etc.
On a somewhat related note, I've never used any sort of gloss varnish on my models before applying washes or decals. Mainly because I don't have an airbrush but also because I've heard a lot of horror stories about them ruining entire models. So I'm wondering, is it really worth applying a gloss coat before applying washes/weathering and if it is what products are good for it?
