>>9198699My guess is that it's a combination of a very successful toyline of the past so there's interest in reviving it, stores (and possibly executives) demanding a movie to tie in to launch it, and the success of the original toyline being awesome fucking ghosts. The Ghostbusters are secondary to having ghosts for them to fight, but companies either don't get it, or want to pump out the franchise stars first, which end up shelfing.
The new Ghostbusters had zero memorable ghost designs either. It just felt so devoid of effort on any level. With today's budget, how could they not make awesome ghost designs?!
