I found Virtuelle at target and I’m kind of disappointed. Maybe I was just unlucky and got a bad one, but she has a lot of issues.
- Some of her hair twists are unraveling, they should’ve either made them all braids, or singed the bottoms so they wouldn’t fray.
- Her eye makeup is very faded in normal light. It’s fine under black light, but in daylight it’s not as vibrant as it probably should be.
- The shiny crinkly fabric they used for the sleeves of her jacket is a cheap material that doesn’t feel pleasant to touch and won’t stand up to normal wear and tear. Mattel used a ton of that fabric on 90s-era Barbies, if you were a kid who got a Barbie during that time you probably know what I’m talking about.
It looked bad then and it looks bad now. I’m thinking about cutting off the sleeves of the jacket and just having it be a vest, and I never modify doll clothing like that. I hope MGA never uses that fabric on an OMG doll ever again, it’s that bad.
However
+ Her color palette is excellent, the pops of neon look great against her deep dark skin.
+ I love her style, it’s very Y2K and reminds me of some of the stuff I wish I could’ve worn when I was a little kid around that time.
+ her chaps are a very well-made piece, they have a tiny functional buckle and actual pockets
I like her design enough to want another one with not as many flaws, but no one should have to consider re-buying a doll because of quality control being that inconsistent.
