>>8382257i've thought of this and almost have gone through with it, but then realized my internet connection isn't the most reliable thing, especially when I'm stuck spending entire afternoons just UPDATING games. Nevermind quality going to shit during peak hours for any streaming service.
Many of my favorite series/movies are no longer up on Netflix or Hulu. With every studio wanting to create their own Netflix-service, it's just not worthwhile to keep any digital service anymore. I've canceled Netflix because it doesn't have anything i want to watch. I have Amazon Prime thanks to Prime shipping, and even this is barely holding its value anymore, since shipping times have gone crazy.
I like to show support for things i like, so when i buy a movie/tv show I'm showing there's interest in producing more. Netflix/Hulu/Amazon don't give any studio enough money for that. So sometimes video sales actually saves a series AND shows there's interest in producing more of that type of shit.
The only streaming service i use outside of Prime is Crunchyroll and ATT has it on its chopping block, probably to be sold off. So without this major player (WB) in the industry helping to boost their status, they'll likely lose even more shit, if not get shut down. So i have an archive that'll outlast any streaming service.
You say that it's exhausting to just have shit sitting in a closet and discs taking up a few bookcases, but streaming/digital is a constant chase. Companies are constantly moving shit around, taking shit off, and getting shut down. And just the other day i got a warning from my ISP that I've used 70% of my bandwidth, likely from DLing fucking games and their updates, because my streaming habit hasn't changed from last month.
Then there's the constant updating of upgrading/replacing hardware to continue just to run things that used to be simple like youtube. Nevermind you're constantly getting fucked over with every update to web browsers and OSes.
