I've had them tell me before that they're pretty used to adult collectors, I think employees really don't give a shit who you are, as long as you aren't being a creep and are there just to shop, you should be fine.
ALSO, even if they did care, it's not like they're going to humiliate you in front of the whole store and ask you to leave, because only an asshole would do that.
And if the cashier asks you questions about the item, you can easily lie and say it's a gift if you don't feel confident enough to say it's for yourself. And if someone were to see you shopping around at plushies, they'd probably assume you're just looking for a gift for someone first, rather than thinking you're a collector.
Anyways, here's my final christmas room setup with my bears. My kitty is in the back there, I might rearrange them a bit to make it more visible with the other bears.
