Big reason is there is such a massive delay between the toys and show it just can't line up to care. You brought up TM2 Megs. His toy came out 5 months -after- the show ended and that is almost always the MO past the original cartoon. Most people just buy what they like visually and perhaps later attach to characters after the fact.
Also this thing was in all of season 1 and most of 2, that's the issue here, why would anyone be sour to this? The hobo Mando appearance figures that were only in the first three episode go for a lot even though he will never go back to that look. I'm with
