and the original toy worked hard to try to justify those 'ant limbs' and they at least had the right shape. they even gave the knees spikes so that they would match the spikes formed by the robot mode hands. they were trying to make this believable. it is a little odd that they chose an ant with large compound eyes, instead of sticking with the small-eyed subterranean standard ant that is obviously being homaged because his name's Inferno, you're meant to think fire ant. suggesting their computers have full knowledge of earth animal names
but still, there are ants like that. they might have just had limited reference material.
