>>10040814>wood surfacewhat I do is put down a base layer of a buff acrylic color (I guess enamels and lacquers would do the trick too), then mix together some brown oil paints (Yellow Ochre, Van Dyke Brown, etc.) to get whatever color you want (take note that the final result will be a little lighter than whatever mix of colors you use).
I use a brush to put down the oil paint, unthinned, on whatever parts I want to be brown. I let it sit for a few minutes, then take a q-tip or brush and gently pull along it in the direction I want the grain to go.
