>>8979979What's funny about that is despite JJ and Disney falling for the "prequels were all CGI" meme, the practical effects that did exist in the prequels were much better done than TFA's, and there actually a lot more of them than people realize. JJ actually had to do a lot more CGI than he expected because surprise surprise a lot of shit is actually hard and expensive to pull off practically. For all the marketing around how BB-8 is a 100% practical prop, a majority of the movie needed him to be either fully CG or CG assisted (by having a puppeteer that was digitally removed from the frame) because the BB-8 puppet couldn't actually do most of the shit the script called for.
