>>9031542Good point. I guess my concern comes from how our (and by our I mean American) culture has been these past few years. It seems like Godzilla can be treated like an icon and also as a niche movie franchise. Like if you went to the streets with a Godzilla figure, most would recognize him, and most of those that recognize him would be able to name him. Then if you did the same with a Rodan figure, it'd probably be the complete opposite, despite Rodan appearing in several movies alongside Godzilla, even most recently KotM. I would just hate to see the series ever change based on outsiders trying to change things. I think the fact that Toho has very little (if any) influence from outside of Japan is a good thing.
Also some history on me: I first was exposed to Godzilla through the Trendmasters toy line. Then the 1998 movie when it was in theaters, and then later the 1999 movie (Millenium) when it was brought overseas. Eventually I learned about the Destroy All Monsters Melee on the Gamecube, and it exposed to me even more. It wasn't until a few years later I started learning about all the movies and iterations of Godzilla. From there I just grew to love the series more and more (especially Show and Millenium movies). I may be an outlier though.
