>>10596456it is weird, in that it was McFarlane responding to fans wanting it to be larger scale and costs of toy manufacturing increasing in China.
Todd knows that value is everything for consumers, and since a 1/2" increase costs next to nothing, they increased the size to match the increase in price.
Was that 1/2" increase meaningful to the scale? How many people would notice the difference between 1/16 to 1/15 scale? Not a lot of people, but it brought the much taller Spartans, Elites and Brutes to being almost ML size and kids would notice that.
Kids have pretty shit attention spans and can stop supporting a toyline in less than a year, so it's more important to bring in new customers than it is to please OCD collectors.
If /toy/ is any indication for older autists collecting the line, the reaction to the scale was noted, but nearly everyone here kept on buying the toyline. In fact, it brought in a lot of non-Halo collectors into the line, as people started using the larger scale vehicles for their 1:12 lines.
So vehicles like this Warthog started selling out everywhere and McFarlane started to produce more vehicles because of that. Unforunately, the later vehices weren't that popular and stuff like that rotor-plane thing was never released.
And to this day, the McFarlane Warthog is still sought after.
