If they only make one hundred dolls and they all sell what does it matter if they then get bootlegged? You made your money and sold them at a premium. You're done with the piece. Where's the loss here? Other art toys seem to not run into the issue and if they do I don't see artist bitching as much as in this circle. They can just use the bootlegs to boost themselves further, make more limited runs with new designs, rinse and repeat.
