>>11517052I think you're just remembering KB through your dumbshit kid eyes.
I don't actually remember when KB started doing their deceptive price sticker game, but I started being able to remember and compare prices by the late-80s for toys i wanted and i never bought from KB from then on unless they were the only store that had what i wanted.
Take picture for example. This is an Mortal Kombat toy and these were 2.99 brand new at places like TRU and Target. KB's prices were almost always more expensive if the toyline was current.
When it came to OLD shit? Or rebranded OLD shit? KB was basically the toystore version of Ross or Ollies, because they got a bunch of old shit that no one wanted anymore. You could find old stock for ExoSquad, Swamp Thing, or Secret Wars for real cheap. So kids like you probably thought KB was the cheapest toystore, just because they carried dead stock no one wanted like those Medabots for real cheap.
I think it's funny that there's currently a MASK thread on toy, because why would they revive that old dead series when KB used to carry their shit almost all the way into the 00s under another name?
I mean, years later, these Mortal Kombat toys were switched from being HALF price to being 3 for $8, along with Hasbro's Street Fighter figures. Basically, the sale price from TRU/Target/KMart/Walmart/etc.
