I was sitting around looking at Kwk.30 reference pictures on google and got to thinking. I had some gun bluing solution laying around and a brass Kwk.30 barrel for my Pz.II F build, so I went and did a quick check for gun bluing on brass. Sure enough, it at least worked with some solutions, so I decided to take a leap.
The coverage isn't quite complete and I think it's either because I didn't clean everything or there's some residual substances from the flux I used to secure the muzzle and front sight. Anyway, the results weren't half bad. It's a nice "gun metal" / slightly warm dark gray color with a metallic "semi-gloss" surface. I didn't polish the metal after the bluing more than just give it a quick wipe. I feel the bluing process preserved some of the fine details that would have otherwise been obscured by a layer of paint, the "knurled" striping for instance.
