Like I said, I hate to be the guy who's always shitting on geewunn, because I actually like a lot of geewunn, but I just feel as though it's hurt more by accuracy than most other incarnations, especially when it comes to being accurate to the cartoon, which omitted a lot of nuance and detail for the sake of being easier to draw. My problem is that I like toys more than cartoons, and I want a toy to look good in its own right, rather than be accurate. Unless being accurate actually DOES look good.
Pic somewhat related. The LG line was known for its cartoon accurate paintjobs, but when a bot came along that didn't have a cartoon appearance, they took inspiration from the toy details and just generally made him look like something you'd want on your shelf even if you didn't know who the character was. I still can't get over the multi-layered paint app on his shoulders; it's metallic copper with both blue and red over it. It's such a dense little explosion of dynamic color that was rare, especially a few years ago before Siege raised the budget.
