My fucking sides are in orbit. They just wanted to give her a non flashy dress with no corset because of Emma, and the designers feminist views. Feminism killed the dress. Think I'm over exaggerating? Emma and the creators of the film are bragging about how progressive it was to not giving Belle a corset in recent interviews.
Thank god Disney had the sense to overcompensate for the feminist fashion-forward inspired dress by using every CGI background trick in the book to bring life to the ball room scene. There's so much visual background noise in the scene that it's almost like Disney didn't want you to notice how shit the dress actually is.
