After the Great Raid on the compound near Wacko, Brixas, and its aftermath there were some "complications" in the necromantic rituals used to revive the fallen. Some returned in an altered state, with visions and knowledge that challenged the fundamentals of Blue Hat ideology and threatened the supreme authority of the Leader.
The Leader ordained that these "red rascals" were an abomination and marked them all to be liquidated in a cleansing purge, but they had been forewarned (through visions of course) and escaped into the wilderness. They've since established their own secret stronghold and grown in number with new converts, dedicated to their twisted worship of Clutchthulhu but also their undying hatred of the "false" Blue Hats.
