Their branch color on their collar patches was officially cornflower blue, because of their police origin. The peace treaty didn't allow for the army to possess modern armored vehicles, so the armor branch was formed in a semi-clandestine way within the police force. Back then it was not unusual to use armored cars for riot control. Overall kinda similar story how Germany tried to cheat their arms restrictions.
