I have this whole set of Johnny Lightning James Bond cars, still on the cards since 1998. I don't know if my 12-year-old self thought they'd be worth something, or if I just liked the overall presentation, but now, 20 years later, I have the strongest urge to open them up and vroom vroom them. Mostly the V8 Volante from Living Daylights, christ that's a gorgeous car. I'm trying to buy another on ebay so I can keep my set intact, but they are selling for just slightly more than I'm willing to pay, and I keep just getting outbid. It's made even more frustrating by the fact that I could just go into my closet, grab the damn thing and open it, but I really want to keep my collection intact.
Don't mind the blogposting. Just wanted to shit out some thoughts since these threads are generally slow, anyway. Now I'm just sitting here thinking about how hard it was for me to find the whole set. I remember searching the toy car aisles of every store. By the time I was almost finished, they weren't being restocked. It was even harder because I couldn't drive, obviously. My grandpa took me to a flea market and I found the last one (Dr. No, ironically) I needed from a collector. I also remember being kind of annoyed that the car for Goldeneye was just the DB-5 again instead of the BMW Z3. Even as a kid I was a particular little shit. Good times.
