And they were certainly more powerful; the later model years used a de-tuned version of the Corvette V-8. The dashboard is huge, the trunk is cavernous, and it has one of the only front bench seats that realistically seated 3 adults. When I had mine, it was actually too wide to be permitted on the Mount Washington climb. Pretty sure the gross weight is over 3 tons, too. Such a great send-off for the true 'Murrikan sedan. Shame there's no diecast version of the Roadmaster wagon that was built on this same chassis. A gorgeous whale of a car.
