Using digital programs as a planning phase and digital way to back up your builds is completely fine. I've gone back and digitized builds that i wanted to change but also keep the possibility to roll back the design to what i had before. That and so i can order just the pieces i need when i finish my design digitally and check the wantedlist pieces in my collection first. If i have the pieces i need i'll try the connections IRL in random colours first. Then those arrive and i'll do another pass on what i mightve missed too.
