It's easier to remove the leaf by popping the legs off and then pushing the leaf from the opposite side.
The peg on the head my be extra hard to remove because the pegs have a single ridge on them that tightly secures them to whatever they're inserted into. Once I was able to remove the head and peg, I shaved the ridge down a bit with an exacto blade and it made it easier to pop on and off.
