It just takes a moment, thirteen seconds or so, to just post something nice if you liked something, and then you inspire others not only to respond but also the more they see that the more they will share their things, with no fear of reprisal. "If that guy got a compliment then of course no one is going to think my stuff is awful, I will share!". Rather than a hugbox it becomes a community of appreciation but also improvement. Not empty compliments, but certainly guiding the younger ones in a direction and saying, at worst "I can see where you went wrong on that one, but also how you went right, let me teach you..."
Or even just "Cool dude!" Whichever.

Secondly, I know Disord is for younglings but Nobody but myself and my orphans seem to use Skype anymore and when I find someone with decent merit on Discord, the two times I month (no joke) I go into that hive of scum and villainy (Also barely a joke) they just "Don't wanna" use Skype where it's a more old style "This is the group" sort of thing. A few have, and I had to make a place for the ones with an IQ above room temperature in a Discord server.
Forgive an old man for his ramblings. Point is I figure a Skype group or DIscord group for /toy/ but then a specific one for fols who are like the posters in this thread. People who want to tell stories, share photos of play and enjoy together and eventualy make a little video channel or something, just for each other. No Hubris, no internet fame.
Like you said, you just want someone to bounce ideas off of. I think it could be a really nice community.
Especially when it's cold.
