Additionally most people want the newer minifigs, a lot of the older ones have been updated to the new articulation and the line isn't slowing down anytime soon. Older sets, particularly in the first couple waves also had more quality issues, the first wave Hornet is the one set I own that has some parts glued on cuz they just wouldn't hold together well enough.
Pic related was a thrift store find, 11 bucks and was only missing a couple pieces (which MB replaced) and the minifigs, already had a Phantom so that didn't bother me any.
