>>9545922Don't buy a Tamiya Sherman, they're shit unless you don't care about detail or are buying it as your very first kit I guess.
>WhyAll the periscopes are missing and the driver/gunner/commander ones are all molded shut so you can't even scratch build them. Not to mention (depending what variant you are building) they have a huge gap underneath the side skirts. Ugly seamlines on the barrel, etc etc.
>why is this a big dealIdk how autistic you are but it's a pretty big deal, it means you can only model a parked Sherman, since it would be pretty impossible for the driver/commander to do anything with the periscopes completely shut and not in place.
If you want a simple Sherman kit with good detail I'd recommend hunting down any of the Dragon ones, they're great.
If you want something even simpler to build but still detailed I'd recommend any of the Asuka kits or the new Zvezda kits (though keep in mind the Zvezda M4A1 has steel tracks which were uncommon but not incorrect depending on how autistic you are).
If you want something with GREAT detail but more difficult I'd highly recommend any of the Meng Shermans, they're 10/10, have workable suspension, and they fixed the issue with the shitty nightmare tracks they come with and now include rubber band tracks. I hear the RFM ones are good too but I've never built one so I can't say.
My personal opinion is that the Meng Sherman is the definite mold since its a perfect blend of awesome detail and ease of build but they don't make the earliest Sherman variants.
But if you don't care about making a parked Sherman/gate guard then yeah get the Tamiya one, it's cheap and good enough.
