Go look at A-Team and Tron getting toylines, which no kid would know about unless their parents shoved their nostalgia onto them. They got toylines nonetheless, were put on the front of aisles and given prominent displays in various other sections of the stores.
Again, where are the R-rated toylines, like Blade got? Oh right... nothing but safe proven franchises in this post-Hobbit world. Them being a movie no longer matters.
