Starting to get a bit of progress in with the Airfix Harrier GR9 (also glued most of the pods, bombs, etc). A fair amount of detail, quite crisply moulded, flash and mould lines are usually quite limited, mostly sane engineering (with the sidewinders being an exception, that engineering sucks). But at the same time there's a bunch of little issues all the time. Just about every structural piece doesn't quite fit. No huge holes, but there's a little gap here, a little gap there... The sprue gates are also quite large, making for another annoyance and source of shit that needs filler. Perhaps something they did to allow the crisp moulding at a lower pressure, so they could cut cost by using softer tooling? The sprues also have a main "trunk" that's much thicker than the rest, presumably also to help with the flow.
>>6945863Looks like a job well done there. And Tamiya are making it hard to be a 1/72 guy. Guess I'll just have to somehow talk my man in Tokyo into moving to Shizuoka and gathering kompromat.
