And it either seems like you've never read his early comics, since you're still using the same page to prove he's breaking ht efourth wall, instead of using his other appearances
... but then, he wasn't breaking any fourth walls in those either.
Given these facts, there's no chance it was breaking the fourth wall since it wasn't shown "again" until years later.
And really, i think the only times he broke the fourth wall early on was only on the covers. Then later bad writers attributed that as being part of his character and put that inside the book.
