I built like 4 of these halftracks (tamiya 1/48 251 kits) and the tracks work perfectly fine.
Pic related is the very same kit when i built it ages ago.
Dryfit, sand carefully and all will be fine.
In fact, i consider the link-and-length tracks of that sdkfz 251 to be among the best ones in terms of ease of assembly in their 1/48 range.
Tiger tracks and especially the 38t tracks are do-able, but require more work.
