>>6932321>After ROTS the line degenerated until they did the vintage collection to pull old fans back in.>The prequels did not do star wars toys any favourslol what? Everyone knows the best figures were released in the post-rots 2007-2012 timeframe with honorable mentions from 2005-2006. Golden years for star wars merch basically, whether it be prequel, OT or EU. Especially EU and prequels. The battle packs and comic packs were legendary, the variation and balance between niche stuff and mainstream fan favourites was great. They were still making (new--not rereleased) action figures from the 2003 micro series in the 2008 legacy line and people were buying them. Even the video games had their own battle packs. Basically, it was perfect, shameless, unaldurated autism for actual enthusiasts and you can be pretty damn sure Star Wars collecting won't ever reach those kinds of heights ever again. It was a different time. And obviously, the toy lines only flourished because there was a lot of appealing stuff out there that you could turn into toys. Gunships, arc troopers, jedi, sith, mandalorians, bounty hunters you name it. All that type of stuff is too fun and masculine and nerdy for todays standards. Everything used to be much more colorful and diverse back then too. All the designs in the new movies is brown and grey trash.
Bottom line is, I'd say the prequels did star wars collecting a lot of favours once the articulation and selections started improving.
