It feels like he's genuinely putting in effort, for the most part. He makes mistakes and does dumb shit sometimes, but that sense of effort doesn't waver much. Example: look at this figure of Buttercup from Princess Bride. This shit is not in McFarlane's typical wheelhouse, it's not that "interesting" and doesn't have a sword or neon green guts. But look at that, a soft goods skirt so her legs can actually pose, different types of sculpted detail across her outfit, and a reasonably well sculpted and painted likeness. with some really nice detail work in the hair in particular. So many companies would have taken the easy buck and shit out something horrible because this is generally a normie type of franchise, and normies don't know or care what good toys are. But there's visible effort put in even on stuff like this, and I respect that.
