All it was used for was to show Goku was getting rusty and his base durability was getting weaker because of it. He doesn't have God minor even Regular ki when his power level is at 0. It's just his base durability. Say what you want but I think it's fine his case durability doesn't get much stronger. I mean it obviously is. Goku use to at least feel pain from bullets. He didn't even notice the scratch until he saw it. I think that's pretty impressive for rusty base durability.
