You will get occasional shiny grains here and there and shitty look.
You paint the base layer bright silver as they want you to, then... well, there are different ways to do this but they all come down to "thin layers of different colours on top of it will tone it down".
You can use filters or you can use oils to make it darker, dirtier, and matte - it is more or less the same thing. You can try to do the same with acrylic paints, airbrushing veeeeery thin layers of thinned paints but this is tricky to do with alcohol-based acrylics (better with water-based and transparators and shiet).
The final choice is yours.
I'd recommend oils - they require certain practice but give you a unique opportunity to fine-tune your work, also completely reversible until they dry up.
Remember one simple thing - making colour darker, dirtier, etc is very easy, it is the other way round that is really harder.
Look up on Youtube guys weathering engines and stuff like that or look up MiG Weathering Magazine on this subject. They all paint shiny polished chrome first, then get than weathered look by multiple layers of oils, enamel liquids and shit.
P.S. I looked up and he has EXACT guide on yours D.III
