>>8365660>>8365703>>8366004>Several dozen batches of figures got made by Hasbro before Hasbro realized what was being done and ordered production halted and a new color scheme made. How likley is it that there were a good amount of "PDDs" released retail in early shipments of the 15th anniversary line? I feel this might line up with why I've had a longstanding skewed false memory of what Destro looked like.
I've ALWAYS associated the character with leopard print for some reason. I was a kid when the 15th anniversary collection came out and that was my first full scale real introduction to the Joe line, aside from a few figures bought at AAFES when I was very little and used swap meet $1 Joes.
I honestly hasn't thought much about GI Joe's in over 2 decades until I was in Wal Mart a few weeks ago when Masters Origins first surfaced and they had a few of the Classified line on the hooks. I noted Snake Eyes and how he resembled the original version I had from the boxed set.. but looking at Destro I thought to myself, "Hmm... sucks they didn't give him his Leopard print fur collar."
If 2 months ago, you had asked me to draw Destro from memory... I'd have drawn him in a black suit, silver head, red accents.. and a big furry leopard collar. It's like somewhere between seeing regular Destro in passing so many times, I've known his default color combo was black/red but somehow had to have mixed in early memories of seeing a Leopard print version with my notion of the character.
I swear mixed up, fill in the blank memories like this are exactly how "Mandela Effects" happen. As I get older, I really realize how shitty and innacurate my memory is.
