>>11060112companies were more stable before the 00s because regulations from the early and mid1900s kept things sane. In the 90s, a shit ton of stuff started being deregulated which allowed companies to eat up other companies they couldn't before.
Virtual monopolies, vertical integrations, and shit like buying up other companies and loading those companies with debt to make themselves richer became more common.
naturally, that leads to fewer companies being in competition to one another and the bigger companies wanting to take fewer risks. It's why Walmart led the way in only wanting to carry the top 5 products for whatever category (action figures, cookies, etc), which in turn leads to fewer products being made... which in turns leads to fewer jobs and other domino effects.
It's funny that people feared the megacorporations in the 1970s and 80s, with a shit ton of media warning us of our fate if we continue down that path, but now megacorporations are seen as saviors and moral compasses. Coincidently, there's almost no new movies and books about dystopian futures we're in phase 1 of.
See pic in how fucked it's all become.
>>11060117honestly, DCD not under control of WB is a good thing. DC and WB in general are now shit, and DCD was already on the conveyor belt leading to the shredder before McFarlane saved them.
Private companies who still have a passion for what they create means there's still hope.
