>>11095910I agree. But we can't kid ourselves that TR/PotP was an asbolute nadir of budget expenditure. Plastic quality was meh, paint apps were minimal, and the return of fucking STICKERS, man? Holy hell.
That said, I vehemently disagree with
>>11095921. In spite of this, the toys are still among the most fun in my collection. The simplicity is honestly kind of a virtue that, along with the headmaster gimmick, makes so many of them a blast to fiddle with. Sure, everything gets ankle tilts now, but I'm old enough to have learned that ankle tilts aren't a magic "MAKE TOY GOOD" button. Some of my favorite toys of all time have no ankle tilts; they're no substitute for raw, toyetic appeal.
I had no issue shelling out for LG releases. It makes me feel a bit of a hypocrite by complaining about modern prices because I was essentially paying $30+ to import $17 deluxes, but to me, it was worth it. I've gotten way more than 30 bucks of enjoyment out of these guys. Can't say the same for many recent releases. Also, distribution was so fucking abysmal during TR that I straight up never saw most waves.
